We have some great friends who let us use their beach house one spring break. This was my gift to them. I literally stood in the ocean as it broke around me with a pad and pencil and drew their house. While standing there, little sand pipers flew and ran around me. They were the inspiration for this creation. The beach house is a relief carving with a little sand piper and the bird is carved out of tupelo and painted with oils.
